So this question could be helpful to someone who's just starting and wants to have a culinary career.or someone like I described above, who's just trying to pay the bills with random gigs: Regardless of your opinion on the situation: If advising a new "line cook" without a culinary background, if you had to pick the most essential things (no more than 10) for them to know how to cook, what would they be? Think in terms of what is most frequently needed, etc. And the thing is: they don't generally know exactly what they'll be cooking until they get there. So a temp worker might be a warehouse laborer one day, then a dishwasher the next, then a line cook the next. All you have to do is pass a basic quiz on the app, and it's first-come-first-serve.


For those who are seasoned in the field, especially those with experience as line cooks: I've noticed that many of those "temp apps" (like temp agencies, only apps) actually have "Line Cook" as an open "gig" for the general public.
